20 Teams Scurry About the Island for THE AMAZING RACE 3

Ambergris Caye’s entertainment center – the Truck Stop – has been open for less than 3 years!

Check out my first pictures, tasting the menu and my bold prediction of “A big hit!” in November of 2015.

Since then, it’s become a hot spot for food, drinks, ICE CREAM and a huge assortment of things to do – from cornhole and giant Connect 4 to pig roasts, movie nights and game shows.

Last weekend, they hosted the 3rd Amazing Race.  Modeled after the tv show, teams race race around the island following clues that are given after each completed task.  The Truck Stop does not do anything HALF ASSED.  Take a look at how COMPLEX this all is!

My blog that covered the 2nd race was such a hit – so fun to play along with – that I now bring you #3.  The clues seem to get more and more clever and a bit more gross.

Take a look…

Would you be able to complete this amazing race?

Challenge #1 FLIP CUP CHALLENGE starting at the Truck Stop – a team challenge

Once given the signal by the Race Starter, your team will race to The Truck Stop “game” area. There you will find tables with lines of 4 solo cups in a row each filled with beer. Pick a side so your team is all in a row.

All team members must participate. The 1st team member must successfully drink the beer, turn the cup over and then “stick the landing” by flipping the cup up right on the table using only 2 fingers. Once the 1st team member completes the task, the 2nd team member may begin to drink their beer, turn the cup upside down and again using only 2 fingers, flip the cup upright.  Onto the fourth.

Once your “relay” is complete, the Challenge Monitor will give you the next
clue.

Clue for Challenge #2

This place is a “paradise” and it is a “secret”. Well, not really!

Make your way to this bar on the leeward side of the island to receive your
next challenge

Challenge #2 – LAND & SEA RELAY – This is a TEAM RELAY CHALLENGE

All team members must participate. There are 3 underwater stations. The 1st team member races to one of the stations to untie your team numbered bag leaving the rope attached to the station. Bring the bag back to the beach (DO NOT OPEN THE BAG).

Tag the next teammate who races to another station, unties your team numbered bag leaving the rope attached to the station.

Once all 3 bags are on shore, the 4th team member unties all the bags, which contain a series of puzzle pieces. The 4th team member must now complete the puzzle.  Other teammates can provide verbal help but CANNOT touch the puzzle. Once your puzzle is complete, the Challenge Monitor will give you the next clue.

LOOK AT THIS PUZZLE!!!! HARD!!!!!

Clue for Challenge #3
Make your way to the tallest structure in Grand Belizean Estates where one
member of your team must get high to find your next challenge.

Challenge #3 ABOVE THE TREE TOPS – this is a TEAM CHALLENGE

Grab your team numbered bag and assemble your map. Using the map, you
must find the 3 locations shown to retrieve your team numbered ribbon.
Once you have retrieved all 3 ribbons, return to your high point where the
Challenge Monitor will give you the next clue.

Clue for Challenge #4
Solve the pictogram and make your way to this location to receive your next
challenge.

(I had to make my own….but it’s true to the original)

Challenge #4 – FLOATING ON THE BAYOU -This is a TEAM CHALLENGE

If you didn’t get the clue, it’s TRICKY!  You can read about the bar here.

At the beach you will select a blow-up pool. One team member must get into
the pool. All other team members will then push the pool, with the team
member inside, from the beach through and around the two white posts to
the north of Blue Bayou.

TEAM MEMBERS IN THE WATER MUST HAVE A HAND ON THE POOL
AT ALL TIMES & THE 1 TEAM MEMBER MUST BE IN THE POOL AT ALL
TIMES. If a team member loses contact with the pool or your teammate falls
out of the pool, you must head back to the beach start area and start over.
Once you have successfully navigated back to the beach start area, the
Challenge Monitor will give you the next clue.

NOTE: IF A POOL IS UNAVAILABLE YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL A
TEAM RETURNS TO THE START AREA.

Clue for Challenge #5
If you ever wanted to play tennis with Bill Gates here on Ambergris Caye, you
would have to make your way to this north resort’s tennis courts on your
way south.

(I know this one!  I wrote a blog about Bill Gate’s visit!)

Challenge #5 – TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT – This is an INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGE
One member of your team must make a close, mid-range and long shot to
complete the challenge.

Only 2 teams can be on the court at the same time. If you don’t make all 3
shots on your first attempt & there is a team waiting, you will have to go to
the back of the line to try again. You will only have to make the shots you
previously missed.

Once you have successfully made all 3 baskets, the Challenge Monitor will
give you the next clue.

ONCE THE TEAM MEMBER IS SELECTED, YOU CANNOT SWITCH.

REMEMBER, THE TEAM MEMBER THAT COMPETES IN THIS CHALLENGE,
CANNOT COMPETE IN ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGES.

Clue for Challenge #6
Make your way to the place where it all started.

Challenge #6 – BRIDGE TO NOWHERE – This is a TEAM CHALLENGE

Your challenge is to build a bridge using only the materials provided between two bar stools – the deadly 12 inch chasm.

Dried Spaghetti and Marshmallows!

Must withhold the weight included in the bag.

Clue for Challenge #7

Make your way to the bar named after these two famous old (well, not really
old) BC’s bartenders.

Challenge #7 – LET’S DO IT DOGGY-STYLE – This is an INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGE

Each team will be given a can of “dog food”. You must empty the entire can
into the dog bowl provided. Without using their hands, one team member
must eat the bowl of “dog food”. Make sure it is licked clean! Good boy or girl!
Once the Challenge Monitor gives you the all-clean, you will receive the next
clue.

REMEMBER, YOU MUST USE A DIFFERENT TEAM MEMBER THAN THE ONE
THAT COMPETED IN THE BASKETBALL CHALLENGE

(Note:  I had to ask…what was in that can?  A mixture of mashed up Cocoa Puffs and Rice & Beans.  BLECH!)

Clue for Challenge #8
Are you laser focused? Let’s find out!

Make you your way to this bar for your next challenge.

Challenge #8 – CARIBBEAN-STYLE BIATHLON – This is a 2-PERSON CHALLENGE

1. Team member #1 (now known as the “Shooter”) selects a pair of snorkel fins

2. Team member #2 (now known as the “Target”) is fitted with a laser head band
and waits in the designated target area

3. The Shooter, with fins on, must complete a lap around the large banyan tree before
reaching the shooting area and receiving their weapon.

4. Once at the shooting area, the Shooter will be given 5 shots to hit the Target’s laser
head band.

5. If the Shooter hits all 5 shots, the challenge is completed. For every miss, the
Shooter must now complete additional laps around the banyan tree. Wearing the
fins of course!

6. Once you have made all 5 shots or completed the required laps, the Challenge
Monitor will give you the next challenge.

NOTE: THERE ARE ONLY 3 LANES SO YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT

Challenge #9 – PHOTO BINGO! (SAN PEDRO STYLE) – This is a TEAM CHALLENGE
Your mission is to complete the actions and collect photos/videos for a BINGO on the
enclosed BINGO board. A BINGO is any horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line.
Once you have a BINGO, find the Challenge Monitor at Tropic Air Terminal – they will
inspect your photos/videos before giving you the next clue.

Be sure to follow the rules!
RULES

GOTTA PROVE IT! – Every square requires a photo or video.

STICK TOGETHER – ALL team members must be in EVERY PHOTO / VIDEO! Get ready for
some group selfies!

DON’T CHEAT IT! – A team member cannot be the person you are trying to find.
(Example: “Kiss a bald man’s head” – the bald head cannot be a member of your team)

JUST DO IT! – If a square contains an action, at least 1 team member must be DOING
THAT ACTION in the photo.

LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION! – Items with a (v) require a short video clip rather than a photo

Clue for Challenge #10
Head north and make your way to the first beach bar north of the bridge for
your next challenge.

Challenge #10 – SOCK IT TO ME – This is an INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGE
One member of your team must select a pair of socks. With the socks on their hands, the team member must successfully unwrap the container provided to find the next clue.

All unwrapped paper and tape must be collected by the other team members
and placed in the garbage. DO NOT LEAVE ANY LITTER BEHIND. Once your
area has been inspected by your Challenge Monitor, you may leave for your
next destination.

And then…WINNER!
